Please, Everyone Become Extremely Thankful Michael Buffer is in Our Lives

Yes, I know it's been a while, but here are some things I feel are worth mentioning. As always, comment as you feel necessary.

Let's start with something positive, because I may take Trey's (my roommate) philosophy of negativity real soon.

Having watched The Contender on ESPN from Day 1 this season, I am very happy for Grady "Bad Boy" Brewer and his half-million dollar victory. Grady went into EVERY fight as the underdog and was able to not buy into the hype of his opponents an take them out one at a time. He defeated Steve "2 Pound" Forbes to claim The Contender championship. After Steve's first fight, it became apparent to me that he would easily win this competition with his slow starts and late flurries that caught his opponents off guard. Not to mention, he has some of the fastest hands I have ever seen in my limited boxing viewing. But, once again, congratulations to Grady Brewer and his family for his victory and their new found wealth.

Staying with The Contendeder, here is where I begin to get upset. I don't care what the ring announcer's name is (something Connor I think), but he was a poor excuse for a voice when he had some great nicknames to pronounce this year. I have never heard someone introduce Norrrbeerrrrrtoooooo "El Gallllllittttttttto" Brravvvvoooo with such a lack of charisma. ESPN should have hired me or Trey to do the job, as we probably announced each contender hundreds of times with much more panache than this man (yea, we led a pretty exciting life over the past few months). I mean, at least get Michael Buffer with a "Let's get ready to rumble" to induce some excitement pre-fight.

On the same night of The Contender finale I got to suffer through Jamie "I'm a loud, obnoxious producer from Malibu who doesn't need money, but I like to play crappy poker and get cards an illiterate garbage man from Greenville could win with" Gold winning the Main Event at the World Series of Poker (I think I said all I need to about that one).

The last thing that really gets at me tonight is those Damn Yankees, as they do just about every year. This time it wasn't because they were in the playoffs....again. They played the Baltimore Orioles tonight and were being no-hit for 8 1/3 innings only to get a hit and prompt my screaming of an expletive or two, followed by my turning off the t.v. and waltzing down to my friends room to watch the new show 6 Degrees. To top that moment off, I got there a few minutes too early and suffered through the last 5 minutes of Grey's Anatomy in which everyone else watching erupted at the end in the same way I would if Michael Jordan came back and hit the winning shot in Game 7 of the finals at the buzzer against some team like... let's say... the Mavericks (I don't even care who Jordan played for at this point, except obviously the Mavs [who just signed their boy Dirk 'The Big Overrated" Nowitzki to a nice 3 yr. $60 million contract extension]).

That's all for now, but I hope to get back in the swing of things and start posting more regularly again. Until next time, let's go Twins/Tigers/A's.

(Oh by the way, did ANYONE hear that T.O. tried to kill himself. I think I've only seen that on the news or from friends 2,091 times since yesterday morning at 11)
